For this project I was asked to look into colours and the connotations they hold within art or surrounded associated objects- for this 'black' was the colour I was awarded with.
When thinking of black, myself and my team associated the colour with grief, racism and death- we wanted to change this. We looked into historic films due to the black and white filter they possess; we found that black was also associated with the earliest love stories in film history and this is what we wanted to portray again. For this we wanted to change the connotations of the colour black to be seen as something 'beautiful' rather than something associated with such morbid traits. 'Juxtapose' was filmed to show the love and friendship of two friends embracing the woodland.
Taking inspiration from Chanel's 2018 woodland catwalk, we loved the way the textures of Chanel's classic tweed material matched the bark of the trees surrounded in the show. We wanted to recreate this similarity between the clothes and the idyllic setting of nature within the shots. We played around with the appearance of the clothing to symbolise those textures found in the woodland- ribbed pant suits to mimic bark as well as white flowing dresses/tops to mimic the swans which gather around the shots.

I thoroughly enjoyed this project as I was an A-Level Media student whilst in sixth form so it was a project which brought back a lot of nostalgia of how much I enjoyed film making in school.
